Resources for Budding Game Companies
It's tough getting started. These are some resources
that may make it easier.
- ABC Logo: Like
the Live Oak Games logo? Blame these guys!
- CreativeChild Magazine:
This magazine is one that I found as an advertiser, and now I read regularly.
If that's not an endorsement, I'm not sure what is.
- DeLano Service: It seems rather redundant for me to list these guys. Ask pretty much any game company to recommend a printer, and DeLano will be in their top 3.
- Discover Games: A great resource
for new games, and the place to start if you're looking to start a game company.
- EdPlay Magazine: It took me a while
to realize it, but if you're a game company, EdPlay magazine is the place
to advertise. Just don't take my spot.
- Hile Illustration: Hile Illustration is the first illustration company that I've worked with (in contrast to working with an individual artist). I can't say enough about these guys. If you need to have a game illustrated, call them. Not only will you get great original artwork, but they're helpful, professional - and they meet their deadlines! To see an example of what I mean, check out calaboose.
- Lisa McKendall handled a lot of
our early PR work. She did a great job of getting our name out there for
all to see.
- Printing Productions: There
are a lot of good printers out there. Lee Gaddis over at Printing Productions
not only quoted us the lowest price, but he also helped us navigate through
the whole process of producing Ice Lake.
- Rolco: Need plastic game parts?
Call Judy at Rolco.
- The Markerboard People: The only dry-erase
marker company that was willing to work with us. Great product, good people.
- Game
Resources Central A good link to games of all sorts.
- National Gamer's Guild: If you're a
gamer, you definitely want to check 'em out. Lots of fun
